Results may vary

As Kai Havertz wheeled away to score the first goal in the 2026 Champion’s League Final, some sports trivia was waiting to be written. He had previously scored for Chelsea to win the same trophy in 2021. It would be that Havertz has never lost a final where he scored a goal. But as all men come to learn in life, results may vary.
We will not always get the same results in life. That’s why it’s not every graduate with an engineering degree who finds success. It’s not guaranteed that quitting smoking prolongs your life.
These are realities that we have to accept, albeit begrudgingly. What works for the next man may not play out as you hoped for yourself.
But, as I’ve already pointed out, results may vary. You will marry another man’s ex wife and she’ll be there, many years later, old and grey, holding your hand the day you take your last breath.
It is easy to walk blindly into precedents. Be diligent in school, get your education. Eat healthy, work hard at your job or business. Slow down on the dating scene, find a good woman, maybe have a few children and enjoy the sunsets. Sign off. Nice headstone.
But results may vary. You may not complete your education. You could lose your job when the economy struggles, business may not do well, your partner may show you snake bums. And here’s the catch. You may even live long enough to experience all this. Like, really long.
Life’s outcomes do not respect precedents.
Men these days are prone to referencing what has worked for other men. A Toyota is a reliable vehicle. You’ll find a good partner at your church. Gym helps your mental health. Men who don’t drink make better decisions.
You can apply all this logic and still have a breakdown on the highway, raise children who are not yours, become a depressed muscular guy and make poor decisions while sober.
You can do everything by the book and still fail. You can also break the rules and still end up without anything to show for it.
Results may vary because we’re all built different. We can recall the guy in university or high school who never sat down to study but is today a senior figure in a multinational firm or government.
There’s a guy who probably laughed at this lack of focus, studied and got six points but today is wearing a security guard’s uniform, patrolling the car park of a shopping mall.
Prosperity does not come from your grandfather’s village, unless of course, your grandfather was called Prosperity Banda.
Accept that even your best efforts may not be enough. Accept that there will be peaks and valleys in your career, relationships, finances, business and health.
A man must understand that results may vary and he will win some, lose some in a marriage, business, career or election.
